Fil-Am’s Judicial Appointment: Solano Court Judge

San Francisco, California – Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent judicial appointment brings notable recognition to the Filipino American community as Marlo S. Nisperos assumes the position of Solano County Superior Court Judge.

Nisperos, a distinguished Filipino American attorney, has been appointed to this esteemed role, reflecting a significant milestone in judicial appointments.

With a robust legal background, including service as an administrative law judge and deputy district attorney at the Solano County District Attorney’s Office, Nisperos’s appointment underscores her expertise and commitment to justice.

Having earned her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, Nisperos is poised to serve with distinction, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Earl B. Nelson.

The National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA) congratulates Nisperos, recognizing her significant contributions as a Filipino Bar Association of Northern California member.

Governor Newsom’s strategic appointment underscores the importance of diversity in judicial appointments and signifies a broader commitment to equitable representation within the legal system.

Nisperos’s appointment joins a series of judicial appointments promoting diversity and inclusion. Newsom’s nomination of two Court of Appeal Justices further reflects this commitment, emphasizing the significance of Filipino American representation in California’s judiciary.

Furthermore, recent appointments of Filipino American judges in Southern California, including Los Angeles County Superior Court Judges Christine Gonong, Cristina Legaspi, and Lowrie Mendoza, highlight the community’s growing influence within the legal profession.

In a significant electoral victory, Michelle Lauron, a Fil-Am deputy district attorney, secured a Superior Court judge position in San Bernardino County’s primary election on March 5.

Nisperos’s judicial appointment not only marks a significant stride in promoting diversity but also underscores the invaluable contributions of Filipino Americans to the legal landscape, resonating profoundly within the Fil-Am community.
