Negros Occidental Clash Draws Response from Fil-Am Activists

A military operation in Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental, resulted in the deaths of 19 individuals, including Filipino Americans Lyle Prijoles and Kai Dana-Rene Sorem.

Authorities stated the casualties were linked to suspected insurgent activity, following an encounter between government troops and armed groups. The operation reportedly began after local reports of rebel presence, leading to an armed confrontation where a soldier was injured, and multiple firearms were recovered.
