Cerritos, California — Los Angeles County is gearing up for its first and largest UbeFest on April 26, 2025, as Don Knabe Park in Cerritos transforms into a hub of Filipino culture. Anticipating over 10,000 attendees, the festival will showcase the popular purple yam alongside Filipino cuisine, businesses, arts, and heritage.
What began in 2021 as a small pop-up in Long Beach, created by James Oreste, quickly became a significant cultural event. Initial success, marked by long queues and sold-out vendors, spurred expansion to other cities nationwide.
UbeFest 2025 will offer a day filled with Filipino food vendors, culture-inspired businesses, interactive displays, and live performances, blending tradition with contemporary Filipino artistry. Beyond a food festival, the event aspires to be a cultural landmark, inviting individuals from diverse backgrounds to experience the richness of Filipino identity.
Cerritos Mayor Pro Tem Lynda Johnson, a longtime supporter of the Fil-Am community, was key to bringing this large-scale event to LA County. Her collaboration with the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Cerritos, led by Ellen Rodriguez-Swing and others, was instrumental in realizing Oreste’s vision.
With widespread backing from various organizations, UbeFest 2025 is set to be a major celebration for Filipino Americans and the broader Los Angeles community. The festivities will run from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM, leading into Cerritos’ anniversary celebration.
