San Francisco, California – The arraignment of Trevor Belmont, accused of fatally pushing Filipino American Corazon Dandan into a BART train, was delayed after he missed his court appearance on Monday due to hospitalization.
Belmont, 49, also known as Hoak Taing, is facing charges of murder and elder abuse for allegedly shoving 74-year-old Dandan into the path of a Millbrae-bound train at approximately 11:06 p.m. on July 1.
The San Francisco Public Defender’s office confirmed that Belmont remains under mental health evaluation at a medical facility, necessitating the postponement of his arraignment.
Dandan, a Daly City resident, sustained severe head injuries after falling onto the platform and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. For 40 years, she had commuted daily on the BART train to her job as a telephone operator at a downtown San Francisco hotel.

“She would want to be remembered as a very beautiful, independent, hardworking American woman. Immigrant if you may – who is basically the life of the party and very kind and generous,” said her nephew, Dr. Alvin Dandan, a physician in St. Louis, who credits her with helping to raise him and supporting his medical education.
Dandan’s co-workers have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover her burial expenses, remembering her as a “cherished and beloved member of our team.” To support her family during this difficult time and honor her memory, please consider donating.
A funeral mass will be held on July 12 at 11 a.m. at Saint Agustin Church in South San Francisco, with a viewing on July 11 from 4 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at Newall Chapel, Cypress Lawn Funeral Home in Colma.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the loved ones of Corazon Dandan.
