Cerritos, California — Filipino American Gloria Perlas Pulido has been named the new chair of the Cerritos Planning Commission, marking the city’s commitment to inclusive and community-centered planning initiatives. Pulido, a long-standing resident and noted community advocate, has served on the commission since her appointment by Councilmember Frank Aurelio Yokoyama on June 23, 2022.
Her selection to lead the commission reflects her deep engagement in local affairs. Beyond her role on the Planning Commission, Pulido has actively participated in various community endeavors. With a professional background that includes extensive service within the California State government since 1998, where she has been a legislative staffer and worked under State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Pulido brings considerable experience to the position.
The Fil-Am Planning Commission Chair is anticipated to guide the commission in decisions impacting Cerritos’ future development, focusing on sustainability and community needs. The advisory body, including Filipino American Jose “Armin” Reyes, recommends zoning and development projects to the City Council. A Cerritos resident since 1979, Pulido offers a distinct perspective in her new leadership role.
