Los Angeles, California – The Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles has issued an advisory urging Filipinos and Filipino Americans in areas near the rapidly spreading Malibu wildfire to evacuate. The Consulate is working with the Sheriff’s Department to assess the impact on the Filipino community in Malibu and surrounding areas.
The wildfire in northwest Los Angeles County has burned over 12,000 hectares, forcing 13,000 residents, including celebrities, to evacuate. Around 1,500 firefighters are battling the blaze. Authorities emphasize evacuation and safety protocols. According to Antonette Villa, the Consulate has been monitoring the situation since December 9.
The Philippine Consulate General advises Filipinos to stay updated via fire.ca.gov, comply with evacuation orders, and contact the Consulate for emergency assistance. Local authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
