San Francisco, California — For over three decades, the Pilipino Bayanihan Resource Center (PBRC) has been crucial in supporting the Filipino American community in Daly City and surrounding areas. From political aspirations to business endeavors, PBRC has become the go-to resource for many in North San Mateo County.
Daly City, home to the region’s largest population of Filipinos, reflects this vibrant community’s significant influence. PBRC, a well-established nonprofit organization, has consistently addressed the needs of Filipino Americans through various programs focused on education, leadership, and community engagement.
Last weekend, around 200 attendees, dressed in traditional Filipiniana attire, gathered to celebrate PBRC’s 35th anniversary. The event paid homage to PBRC’s founders and their efforts to uplift the community. Co-founders Perla Ibarrientos, Sonia Reyes, and other key figures were recognized for their leadership and contributions over the years.
San Mateo County Vice President David Canepa praised PBRC’s unwavering dedication. PBRC board members and volunteers were also acknowledged for their continuous efforts in fulfilling the organization’s mission.
Since its founding in 1989, PBRC has provided services and advocated for the Filipino American community. From youth development programs to social services, the organization has left an indelible mark, fostering a sense of pride and unity among Filipino Americans in Daly City.
