Los Angeles, California — The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles held the second installment of its two-part hybrid seminar, Briefing on Immigration Developments for Filipinos in the U.S., on March 13, 2025. The event aimed to update the Filipino-American community on recent changes in U.S. immigration policies and procedures.
The session opened with remarks from Deputy Consul General Maria Alnee A. Gamble, who acknowledged the efforts of Filipino-American lawyers and welcomed participants for their active involvement. This was followed by Atty. Gladys V. Gervacio’s presentation detailed recent changes in employment-based visa processing—particularly concerning H-1B visas—and addressed emerging trends in adjudication.
Atty. Ed Allan Lindain discussed the U.S. Department of State’s role in enforcing immigration policies, including practical advice for Filipinos applying for visas at the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines.
The final presentation, led by Atty. Marlon B. Baldomero focused on Executive Order No. 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion, which mandates registration for certain immigrants. His discussion aligned with earlier points on expedited removal procedures.
Vice Consul Levi Anthony B. Malaylay moderated the concluding Q&A session, where attendees received clarification on immigration concerns. The seminar was streamed live and remains available on the Consulate’s official Facebook page.
