Daly City, California — The Lucero family’s pursuit of justice for Frances Kendra Lucero, a young Fil-Am mother allegedly killed by her partner, faced another setback this month as her trial has been postponed until mid-2025. Lucero’s mother, Liezel Chan-Lucero, shared the family’s frustration as they continue to seek closure after more than 20 months since the tragic incident.
Initially set for October 18 at the San Mateo County Courthouse, the trial date was significant as it aligned with Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This month marks a time of reflection for the Lucero family, as Liezel, alongside domestic violence prevention advocates, has participated in events honoring her daughter’s memory and highlighting the importance of awareness.
Frances Kendra Lucero, 27, was a mother of two, a dedicated ophthalmology office worker, and an artisan known for her healing crystal designs. Her children were present when she lost her life, an event that left Liezel and her husband, Florendo, determined to keep her memory alive as they care for their grandchildren, now officially adopted.
Reflecting on the trial delay, Liezel described feeling “disappointed and frustrated.” Her resolve, however, remains firm, drawing strength from community support and her dedication to advocating for domestic violence prevention. The Lucero family expresses gratitude to those standing with them, committed to honoring Frances’s memory as they await justice.
The Lucero family’s resilience is a reminder to all who have faced loss that healing is possible. Our thoughts are with them as they await justice and honor Frances’ memory in every way they can.
