Compton, California — A devastating three-car crash in Compton late Friday night led to two deaths and one person hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred at approximately 9:17 p.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Sportsman Drive, just beneath the 710 Freeway overpass.
Authorities say:
- One vehicle was traveling southbound on Atlantic Avenue.
- It initially collided with a second vehicle near the underpass.
- The first vehicle then continued moving and struck a third car.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene and used specialized equipment to extricate victims from the wreckage. The occupants of the first and third vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. The individual in the second vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
As of now, the identities of the victims have not been made public, and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
This incident follows another serious collision in Compton earlier in the week, which also sent at least one person to the hospital.
We extend our sympathies to the families affected by the loss of loved ones, and we wish a swift and complete recovery to those injured.
