Philippine Consulate Empowers Future Filipino Entrepreneurs

San Francisco, California —  The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco recently welcomed a delegation of young Filipino entrepreneurs and business students from Ateneo de Manila University. Led by Director Carlo Calimon of StartUp Village, the group visited as part of the Engage Silicon Valley Immersion Tour, held from July 29 to August 2, 2024.

The Consulate’s Acting Head of Post, Consul Jed Llona, greeted the delegation alongside Consul and Acting Economic Officer Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil, Economic Assistant Jennifer Sto Domingo, and Trade Specialist Rosalie Say from the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Silicon Valley (PTIC-SV). 

The meeting focused on fostering collaboration and inspiring the next generation of Filipino business leaders.

During the session, the Consulate emphasized its ongoing efforts to promote trade, investments, and economic diplomacy. They highlighted the significant role of the Filipino American community in the region as a potential bridge for business opportunities.

The visiting students, eager to explore new entrepreneurial ventures, showed strong interest in e-commerce, sustainable fashion, and business licensing.

The Consulate provided valuable insights on market entry strategies, regulatory compliance, and networking opportunities.

Additionally, the Consulate reaffirmed the Philippine government’s commitment to supporting startups and innovation through legislation, including the Innovative Startup Act and the Philippine Innovation Act of 2019.
