Glendale, California – Glendale’s Filipino-American community came together to mark the second anniversary of the Fil-Am Friendship Monument in a memorable “3-in-1 Event” at the Glendale Adult Recreation Center (ARC), hosted by the Filipino American Business Association of Glendale (FABAG-GLAC).
The event commenced with a warm “Meet and Greet,” followed by an insightful workshop on “Navigating Glendale’s Business Registration Process,” led by the City’s Community Development Department, Neighborhood Services.
Tamar Sadd, Deputy Director, along with Jessica Sada and Mania Awakian, delivered a comprehensive presentation, aiding small businesses in understanding the licensing requirements and easing the application complexities. The workshop offered on-site license processing, ensuring immediate issuance to attendees.
An exciting highlight of the gathering was the book launch of “Marriage is a Marathon” by Anthony Pangilinan and Paul Villar, adding literary flair to the festivities. Additionally, new members enthusiastically joined FABAG during this engaging occasion.
The post-workshop celebration honored the monument’s significance, paying homage to Ruby De Vera, a cherished founder and past president of FABAG. This commemorative structure stands as a testament to unity, acknowledging the enduring contributions of past leaders and fostering community spirit. Notable figures in attendance included Hon. State Senator Anthony Portantino, Phil. Vice Consul Ralph Jacob Viloria, and local dignitaries Mayor Elen Asatryan and Councilmember Kassakhian, among others.
The Fil-Am Friendship Monument symbolizes shared values and camaraderie, embodying gratitude toward Glendale’s diverse community. FABAG’s dedicated board members, including Lydia Soriano, continue to uphold its legacy of unity and service.
