Gary V and Apl.de.Ap Lead Carson’s PH Independence Day

Carson, California — The City of Carson is set to celebrate its 126th PH Independence Day on June 8, featuring prominent Filipino artists Gary Valenciano and Apl.de.Ap. This free event, organized in collaboration with the Philippine Independence Day Foundation (PIDF), will take place at Veterans Park, 22400 Moneta Avenue, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Apl.de.Ap, a founding member of the Black Eyed Peas, will serve as the parade grand marshal. “Their talent and passion for music, along with the rest of the PIDC Carson 2024 performers, embody the essence of our cultural heritage and the resilience of our nation,” said PIDF President Fred Docdocil. The event will also feature performances by Junior New System, Annie Nepomuceno, and other notable Filipino artists.

Carson Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes expressed her gratitude to the PIDF for showcasing the richness of Filipino culture. “Thank you for giving the community the opportunity to see and experience the richness of Philippine history and culture,” she said.

Docdocil highlighted the importance of community participation: “This is the only way our story gets told – if we show up and represent ourselves.” With over half a million Filipino Americans in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, the event promises to be a significant cultural celebration.
