Fil-Am Hiker Missing After River Current Incident

Los Angeles County, California – Authorities in Los Angeles County are seeking the public’s help in locating 59-year-old Rona May Cuena, a Fil-Am hiker who vanished after a river current incident near the Bridge to Nowhere Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains.

According to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, Cuena was last seen on Saturday at 9 a.m. Described as 5 feet tall, weighing 105 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, she wore a blue jacket, blue pants, a blue hat, and gray shades.

The Bridge to Nowhere Trail, notorious for its challenging terrain and multiple stream crossings, poses risks during river current incidents, especially during rainy conditions.

Safety for Filipino-American hikers is crucial in outdoor activities, especially in areas prone to river current incidents. Caution is advised, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
