Families Grieve Fil-Am Child Lost in Stockton Mass Shooting

Los Angeles, California — The tragic Stockton mass shooting has left Filipino American families across California mourning after an 8-year-old Fil-Am girl was among the victims. The heartbreaking loss has shaken the Stockton community and raised concerns among Filipinos in America (Fil-Ams) about safety, healing, and justice.

Details of the Stockton Mass Shooting That Claimed Young Lives

Authorities confirmed that 8-year-old Filipino American Journey Rose Reotutar Guerrero was one of the victims killed during the Stockton mass shooting on November 29. The violence unfolded inside a crowded banquet hall as relatives prepared to sing for a birthday celebration.

Family members initially mistook the rapid gunfire for popping balloons before realizing the danger. Over 100 guests were present when shots rang out, killing three children and a 21-year-old adult.

Detectives believe the shooting may have involved multiple suspects and continued outside the venue. At least 13 others sustained injuries, leaving the community devastated.
