Investigators said a Honda SUV driven by 57-year-old Norma Herrera of Irvine was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes before colliding with a BMW sedan.
The BMW was driven by 39-year-old Joseph Kyle Massey of Rancho Santa Margarita, with a 7-year-old girl riding as a passenger. Herrera and Massey were both killed. The child was taken to a hospital, and authorities initially did not release details about her condition.
The Lake Forest wrong-way crash remains under investigation, including whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the collision.
