The collision was reported at about 12:10 a.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue in Norwalk, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.
Authorities said an Amazon-branded truck was involved in a collision with a cargo van and a passenger car. The impact caused the cargo van to overturn.
At least three people were transported to hospitals following the Norwalk Amazon truck crash. CHP later confirmed that one of the injured individuals died at a hospital, although officials had not identified which vehicle that person occupied.
The crash temporarily shut down most southbound lanes, leaving only the carpool lane open. All lanes have since reopened. CHP continues to investigate the cause and circumstances of the collision.
