Fil-Am Nurse Indicted in Alleged $906M Fraud Scheme

Los Angeles, California — A Fil-Am nurse has been charged in connection with an alleged healthcare fraud scheme that federal prosecutors say generated hundreds of millions of dollars in fraudulent claims. The case involves allegations of medically unnecessary procedures, false billing, and illegal kickbacks that allegedly affected vulnerable patients across multiple states.

Federal Indictment Details Alleged Multi-State Healthcare Fraud Operation

According to federal prosecutors, Fil-Am nurse Marizel Yukee was indicted in the Southern District of Texas. The charges stem from an alleged healthcare fraud scheme that reportedly operated from October 2023 to April 2025.

Investigators claim the operation targeted elderly Medicare beneficiaries. Authorities further allege that some of the affected patients were in hospice care and were billed for medically unnecessary tissue graft procedures.

Authorities stated that approximately $906 million in claims were submitted to Medicare and Tricare, resulting in roughly $297 million in payouts. Prosecutors further allege that Yukee owned and managed four wound care companies operating in Texas, Nevada, California, and Hawaii.

The indictment also claims she received nearly $16 million in alleged kickbacks tied to product referrals and sales. Investigators further allege that the funds were used to purchase luxury assets and to support the development of a multi-million-dollar resort project in the Philippines. The allegations remain pending in federal court.
