Fil-Am Designer Showcases Debut Runway in California

Stanford, California – A rising Fil-Am designer recently took the spotlight at Stanford University after presenting her first runway collection at a unique outdoor fashion event. The showcase emphasized creativity and cultural identity, featuring a young Filipino-American talent making her impact in the fashion industry.

Dominique Schleider Marks Major Milestone With Debut Collection

A 22-year-old Fil-Am designer, Dominique Schleider, unveiled her debut collection, Weather Any Storm, at Stanford University in California. The runway presentation transformed the university’s well-known Terman Fountain into an immersive fashion experience.

Schleider is currently studying Symbolic Systems at Stanford, a multidisciplinary program that integrates computer science, psychology, philosophy, and linguistics. The 15-look collection required more than a year of preparation and development and was influenced in part by her time studying fashion in Milan.

Born in New York and raised in Singapore, Schleider is Filipino-American, with family roots in both the Philippines and the United States. Before entering the fashion industry, she spent years training as a classical opera singer. She credits her parents, both attorneys, with encouraging her to explore artistic interests from a young age.
