Elk Grove, California – A tragic Elk Grove car accident early Monday morning claimed the lives of two local residents and left two others injured in a high-speed collision. According to the Elk Grove Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. when an officer noticed a Hyundai that appeared suspicious on Brown Road.
As officers attempted to approach, one individual reportedly fled on foot while the vehicle sped westbound at a high rate of speed. The Hyundai later collided with a Tesla at the intersection of Elk Grove Florin Road and Brown Road.
Four people were inside the Tesla. Authorities confirmed that two occupants, identified as 47-year-old Tiffany Chin A Chu and 54-year-old Skip Phoong A Van of Elk Grove, died as a result of the crash. Two other occupants were transported to a hospital with injuries.
Police detained two juveniles inside the Hyundai, while the individual who initially fled remains at large. The collision also damaged a nearby residence and the surrounding property. Authorities continue their investigation into the Elk Grove car accident.
