Chula Vista, California – Plans for the Filipino American Veterans Park are advancing, with construction scheduled to begin in spring 2026. The project marks a major milestone in Filipino American representation, honoring veterans whose service has long been underrecognized. Once completed, the Filipino American Veterans Park will stand as a lasting public tribute in San Diego County.
Chula Vista Approves Landmark Filipino American Veterans Park
The Chula Vista City Council unanimously approved the park’s name and master plan in October 2025, following years of advocacy by Filipino American veterans and community leaders. With approvals secured, the project now shifts from planning to construction.
The Filipino American Veterans Park will be built in the Cota Vera neighborhood of Otay Ranch, near La Media Parkway and Avenida Caprice. Spanning 5.5 acres, construction is expected to last 12 to 24 months, with completion projected for 2027 or summer 2028.
The $20 million project includes a privately funded veterans memorial, sports courts, soccer fields, a playground, and limited parking. A central monument will symbolically represent Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, reflecting shared U.S.–Philippine military history.
