San Francisco, California — The Parol Festival continues to serve as a meaningful cultural tradition for Filipino Americans, bringing together community groups, families, and institutions in a shared celebration of heritage. This year’s event highlighted both cultural pride and community solidarity in the Bay Area.
Philippine Consulate Participates in San Francisco Parol Festival
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined the 23rd Annual Parol Festival on December 13, 2025, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and surrounding gardens. Organized by SOMA Pilipinas and the Filipino American Development Foundation, the event featured a parol stroll with participation from various Filipino American organizations.
The Consulate presented a miniature bahay kubo crafted from indigenous materials and accented with capiz shells and wooden décor, depicting the Holy Family. Traditional Filipino Christmas songs accompanied the display.
Established in 2003, the Parol Festival is recognized as the first Filipino Christmas lantern festival in the United States. It remains a longstanding tradition for Filipino American communities across San Francisco and the Bay Area.
