Carson, California — The City of Carson is set to launch its annual celebration of Filipino American History Month (FAHM) with a vibrant event highlighting Filipino-American contributions to arts, culture, and innovation. The festivities will feature live performances, a culinary competition, and the city’s first-ever auto show.
Among the key attractions is the “Battle for the Best” chicken adobo cook-off, where Carson’s top chefs will compete live on stage. Grammy Award-winning artist Apl.de.Ap, co-founder of the Black Eyed Peas and founder of the Apl.de.Ap Foundation International, will serve as one of the celebrity judges.
The Apl.de.Ap Foundation is also co-producing the inaugural Carson Auto Show, which will spotlight Filipino-American achievements in the automotive world.
The event will showcase a range of vehicles, from vintage classics to cutting-edge designs. A highlight will be the public debut of Apl.de.Ap’s reimagined 1967 Ford F100, now a 600 HP electric vehicle symbolizing innovation and sustainability.
The celebration will feature live entertainment from performers like Leo Mercedez, Debralee Daco, and Janice Javier, alongside comedians and rising stars. The event promises a day filled with Filipino culture, cuisine, and creativity, underscoring the community’s enduring impact.
Attendees are invited to join in the festivities. The Filipino American History Month celebration will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Carson Event Center, located at 801 E. Carson Street, Carson, CA 90745.
