Los Angeles, California – The Filipino American nonprofit Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) has inaugurated its new HiFi Well-Being Center in Historic Filipinotown (HiFi), located at 1921 W Court Street. This nonprofit wellness center marks a milestone for SIPA, expanding its mission to promote community well-being.
The grand opening on March 29th included an indigenous Filipino blessing, speeches from officials, and performances by local Fil-Am groups. The center focuses on mental health, offering counseling and support groups in Filipino, Spanish, and English. It also addresses anti-Asian violence impacts.
SIPA’s HiFi Well-Being Center is a response to increased mental health needs, especially post-COVID-19. It integrates food access programs like Plato (plate), collaborating with API Forward Movement for community food distribution.
Additionally, SIPA’s community garden initiative at their headquarters fosters cultural connections through gardening and communal meals, reflecting their holistic approach.
This wellness center’s launch aligns with SIPA’s longstanding support in youth programs, mental health, wellness, and affordable housing. It symbolizes their commitment to community resilience and holistic justice in Historic Filipinotown.
Through the HiFi Well-Being Center, SIPA aims to empower grassroots leaders, foster community engagement, and uplift Filipino Americans across Los Angeles County.
